New scientific paper highlights LalVigne PROHYDRO benefits

Effects of foliar applications of a proline-rich specific yeast derivative on physiological and productive performances of field-grown grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.)

Lallemand Oenology launched a research collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in  Piacenza, Italy and the Università degli Studi di Perugia, in Italy, to investigate the benefits on applying a proline-rich specific yeast derivative (SYD) on grapevine, in case of extreme summer conditions.

Notably, the study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying proline-rich yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) derivatives (LalVigne PROHYDRO) on grapevine physiology and grape composition under field conditions.

Additionally, the study aimed to quantify the trend of proline and stress-related metabolites accumulation in leaves according to the foliar treatments.

The general hypothesis of the study was that altering the natural leaf proline concentration could interact with plant water status and canopy functioning, thus preserving dry matter partitioning to sink organs under limiting conditions1.

The results of this 2-year study demonstrate for the first time the potential benefits of our proline-rich SYD (namely LalVigne PROHYDRO) application in vineyards subjected to multiple summer stress.
